Habi lodge an appeal in Council State against cement companies and the Ministry of Environment

Within the framework of Habi’s program corporate accountability and his campaign against violations of cement companies, especially which using coal, also in order to activate the environmental and health rights of citizens, Habi address Lafarge company Egypt and Suez Cement group by several of correspondence to urge them to comply with environmental law and announcement on the Environmental impact assessment studies to useing coal, as well as their Lecturer public hearings, but the companies did not respond and did not Reply to Hapi, and then was address both the Ministry of environment and EEAA to encourage them to commit cement companies to implement local legislation and international conventions, but was EEAA response is weak and did not live up to the claims Hapi and continued attempts and correspondence – for companies and officials – nearly a year. And after consultations with many human rights organizations and activists, there was no escaping the Access to justice, and providing appeal # 403 L71 s before the Administrative Court (Council of State), Sued the both the Prime Minister in his capacity as Minister of State for Environmental Affairs and Chairman of the EEAA the head of Egypt Lafarge cement company and head of the Suez cement Group, calling on the judiciary to compel officials to apply environmental legislation and the Constitution on competent cement companies.
