Lafarge Cement Assures Violating law and Underestimating the Egyptians’ Right to Knowledge and Participation

Finally Lafarage responds to the demands sent to it, but it did not respond to the Egyptian associations, yet it responded to Business and Human Rights Resource Center that is in solidarity with Habi and the demands and resent them to Lafarage.
It is clear that the multinational cement companies insist on underestimating the Egyptians’ right and violating their right to health, knowledge and participation. This revealed through reports against them in courts.
Lafarage response to the demands is justification of its situation not a response to the sent demands. It claims that it commits to law and submits environmental impact assessment studies to Environmental Affairs Agency. At the same time we found out a case with no.2534 of 2015 from Environmental Affairs Agency against Lafarage against which there is a fine with 10.000 EGP, in addition to not publicizing any of the studies which it claimed that they were submitted to EAA.
